Burner Selection for Cement Plants
Four cement plant burners are designed for different working conditions and are non-interchangeable. This guide introduces professional burner selection standards for kiln, calciner, hot blast stove and dryer, adapting to various production capacities, fuels and environmental requirements.
LAFA burners deliver energy-saving, durable and eco-friendly performance for long-term stable operation.

Four Main Burners Commonly Used in Cement Plants
The kiln inlet, calciner, hot blast stove and dryer feature vastly different working conditions with unique temperature and heat supply requirements, so their burners are not interchangeable. Models must be selected according to installation positions. All LAFA burner series are precisely tailored to each position to deliver stable production, low energy consumption, long service life and low nitrogen emissions.
For clinker calcination. High-power multi-fuel burners with adjustable long flames are recommended.
Dedicated to pre-decomposition; short uniform flame, anti-crust performance and lower coal consumption.
Designed for continuous heat supply, resistant to high temperature and coking.
Fuel-Oriented Burner Selection
Coal, oil and gas fuels each have pros and cons. Selection shall take local fuel supply stability, long-term fuel costs, equipment maintenance and environmental standards into comprehensive consideration. LAFA burners support multiple fuels, cut energy loss and extend service life to fit diverse factory production conditions.

Plants with sufficient pulverized coal may choose solid fuel burners for the lowest operating cost. Drawbacks include supporting coal conveying systems and easily worn spare parts.

Gas burners are ideal for factories with stable natural gas or pipeline gas supply. They are clean, low in nitrogen oxide output, low-wear and easy to maintain, yet highly reliant on gas sources.

Oil burners require self-provided diesel or heavy oil storage tanks.
Featuring flexible installation and dust-free operation, they are an optimal option for oil-producing countries.

For plants with unstable fuel supply and frequent fuel switching, mixed fuel burners support free conversion between gas-coal or oil-gas, perfectly matching factories facing drastic raw material fluctuations.
Large New
Dry-Process Line
(Daily Output ≥ 4,000 Tons)
- Kiln inlet: High-power staged low-NOx burners to reduce pollutant emissions
- Calciner: High-flow dedicated low-NOx burners to support high-capacity pre-decomposition and ensure high decomposition rate
- Hot blast stove: Matching high-power burners for steady hot air supply

Medium-Sized
Cement Plant
Daily Output: 1,000–3,000 Tons
- Kiln inlet: Multi-functional burners with adjustable flames and fuel switching capacity
- Calciner: Stable dispersed combustion burners to prevent crust formation and lower coal consumption
- Drying system: Independent low-power dedicated dryer burners
Small-Sized
Cement Plant
Daily Output ≤ 1,000 Tons
- Kiln inlet: Medium & small power solid fuel or dual oil-gas burners
- Calciner: Medium & small power dedicated pulverized coal/gas burners to meet basic pre-decomposition demands
- Dryers & hot blast stoves: Compact low-power burners with cost-effectiveness as priority

Additional Criteria for Burner Selection
Burner selection should also factor in actual production conditions, exhaust emission limits and daily maintenance workload. LAFA burners withstand high temperatures and heavy dust, allow quick disassembly and overhaul, and feature low-NOx combustion design to easily meet local environmental regulations.

Choose staged low-NOx burners with graded air distribution to cut denitrification costs. Full low-NOx configurations are preferred for both kiln inlet and calciner.

Prioritize products built with high-strength wear-resistant, heat-resistant alloy nozzles and sealing components.

Oil and gas burners are recommended with universal spare parts and simple disassembly. Sufficient maintenance space shall be reserved for pulverized coal burners.
